Booking a free estimate
Estimates are free and there is no obligation to go ahead. We come out, get up and look at the roof properly rather than guessing from the drive, and take photographs of anything you cannot see for yourself.
You then get the price in writing, with the work set out clearly so you can compare it fairly against another quote. We do not chase you afterwards. If you want to think about it for a fortnight, think about it for a fortnight.

What happens when you call
We ask a few questions to work out how urgent it is and what sort of job we are looking at. Then we agree a time to come and inspect, or, if water is coming in, we work out how quickly we can get to you.
After the inspection you get a written estimate, usually within a few days. If the work goes ahead we agree a start date, tell you whether scaffolding or a tower is needed, and let you know in good time if weather or materials move anything.
What to have ready before you ring
None of this is essential, but it helps us give you a useful answer on the first call rather than the third.
- Roughly how old the roof is, or when it was last worked on if you know
- What you have actually noticed, such as a damp patch on a ceiling, a slipped tile, a drip from a gutter, or grit in the guttering
- When it happens, for instance only in driving rain from one direction
- Whether there is side access for ladders or scaffolding, and where a van can park
- Whether the property is a flat, a bungalow, a house of two or three storeys, or has a conservatory or extension below the problem
- Photographs, if you have any that were safely taken from the ground
Leaks come first
Active leaks go to the front of the queue. Water gets into plaster, insulation and timber quickly, and a job that would have been a single tile in October becomes a ceiling in January.

If water is coming in right now
Move furniture and anything valuable out of the way and put a bucket under the drip. If the water is anywhere near a light fitting or a socket, turn that circuit off at the consumer unit and leave it off. A small hole poked in a bulging ceiling will let the water out in one place instead of bringing the whole ceiling down. Do not go up a ladder in wind or rain to look. Yes. We come out, inspect the roof properly and give you a written price at no cost and with no obligation to use us. You will not be charged for the visit whether you go ahead or not, and you will not be pressured on the doorstep. Take the estimate, compare it with others, and decide in your own time.
Active leaks are treated as the priority and we get to them as fast as the diary allows, often far sooner than a planned job. Call rather than email so we can ask the right questions straight away. In many cases we can make the roof watertight on the first visit and come back to finish the permanent repair once materials are on site.
Usually yes, at least for the first visit. We need access to the outside of the property, somewhere to set a ladder, and often a look inside the loft, which is where the real evidence of a leak tends to be. Being there also means we can show you the photographs and explain what we have found while you are standing next to us.
Not an accurate one, and we would rather not guess. What looks like a slipped tile from the ground can turn out to be a failed flashing or a rotten batten, and a price given blind would only change later. We can talk through what is likely and roughly what the job involves, then confirm it in writing after we have been up and looked.
